Case Studies in Interactive Cultural ExperiencesThis publication looks at twelve examples of how new media and technologies can offer new forms of access to and presentation of cultural heritage (CH) content. A descriptive analysis approach (case study) is applied to identify emerging trends in didactic and narrative approaches to mediate cultural and historical information. The analysis work includes looking at technological requirements, user interface design, user navigation, usability and the use of mixed media (e.g. text, images, audio and video). A broad range of technological platforms are investigated from mobile applications (e.g. mobile tour guides), web-based applications (e.g. web-based virtual museums), CD-ROMs and DVDs to various other applications (e.g. fixed multimedia installations). Implementation Plan for the Heritage Alive! Learning Quests:The objective of this document is to provide general guidelines for implementing Learning Quests in different contexts, based on the experience acquired during the three different Learning Quests (Gorlice, Kardjali, Urbino). The guidelines encompass the technical and organisational processes carried out during the implementation of the Learning Quests as well as the user and take-up evaluation process. The results of the implementation plan for Learning Quests will, on the one hand, be used to document the Learning Quest. In addition, such results will be useful to collect feedback in order to refine and improve the Learning Quest model for the mediation of cultural heritage. The results should also provide a framework for other World Heritage and cultural heritage sites to develop and implement similar solutions. Download Information: PDF Document, size: 1.2 MB.

Welcome to the Heritage Alive! Press Book:This Press book documents the 77 press coverages of the HERITAGE ALIVE! project. The HERITAGE ALIVE! project invites you to explore the use of new media technologies to mediate the stories and history of World Heritage sites in selected European regions with the help of press releases, radio interviews. This press book is a summary of the media of our two-year-long project; nine institutions from seven European countries have worked together on new forms of digital mediation to bring the richness of world heritage sites “alive” for all. The project took advantage of emerging mobile technology the concept of learning quests, and novel digital storytelling techniques to encourage young and old, residents and visitors to engage in an active dialogue with their cultural surroundings. The results of the work are six pilot actions trialled in six different European regional settings. Enjoy our media appearances, listen to our radio interviews and after you got a picture of our values, do not hesitate, come and visit our world heritage sites in person!
