What can we expect from this technology? Here’s just one example of the possibilities of this device: Imagine you are following the trail of a most famous composer throughout the city of his birth. In front of his living house, you look up on the display of your Virtual Tourist Guide, what additional content it offers, in this case perhaps a reading from a very intimate love letter the composer wrote. This inspires you to write to your beloved yourself. Here you go! The VTG gives you internet access and you can express your feelings with the words of a famous composer. This shall be inviting to locals as well as to tourists. The virtual tourist guide is a demonstrator of an ICT tourism and education service, based on virtual cultural routes in a World Heritage City. The virtual tour guide system will be based on a geographical information system which will enable users not only to select and plan routes but also draw on specific information based on their location, as well as capture and share their experience with others. |
