Heritage Alive! at the UNESCO Periodic Meeting in Wrocław, Poland

Wrocław, 14-15. September 2007 – The Heritage Alive! project was presented at the UNESCO Periodic Reporting Follow-up Meeting for Eastern and Central Europe. The meeting was prepared by the National Heritage Board of Poland on behalf of the Word Heritage centre UNESCO and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The conference included 37 participants from 13 countries (Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Great Britain, Poland) and representatives of WHC UNESCO, ICOMOS, IUCN. The National Heritage Board of Poland made a special invitation to the Heritage Alive! project to present its results to the distinguished audience.

The Heritage Alive! project was presented by the Project Manager John Pereira from Salzburg Research, Austria and Daniel Markowicz from the Administrative District of Gorlice, Poland. A hands on presentation of the Salzburg Virtual Tour Guide was the highlight with the audience able to test the mobile application. The project was applauded for its focus on applying novel technology solutions to raise the awareness and respect for UNESCO World Heritage Cities and Sites.
